With this critical approval now in hand, the Kerala government is making swift preparations to <strong>begin construction by next month<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is expected to inaugurate the construction works<\/strong>, according to local MLA <strong>Linto Joseph<\/strong>, who made the announcement publicly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"\">&#8220;Now that the central environmental clearance has been granted, the government is moving without delay. The route is especially important for uninterrupted transportation during monsoon seasons, as frequent landslides have caused long-standing issues in the existing route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Clearance Confirmation:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">As per official sources and corroborated by regional government representatives, <strong>MoEFCC granted the final environmental clearance earlier this month<\/strong>, after reviewing the <strong>Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)<\/strong> and related studies submitted by the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The project had already completed <strong>tendering processes<\/strong> and contractor selection well in advance, awaiting only central-level clearance to proceed with actual ground work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Strategic and Environmental Considerations:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The project incorporates <strong>eco-friendly tunneling techniques<\/strong> to minimize disruption to the Western Ghats ecosystem.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Tunnel length:<\/strong> Approximately 8.5 km (making it the <strong>longest road tunnel<\/strong> in Kerala upon completion).<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The route is also expected to improve <strong>emergency response, trade, and tourism<\/strong> across the region.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><br><strong>Next Steps:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Construction activities, including <strong>site mobilization and machinery setup<\/strong>, are expected to commence by <strong>mid-July 2025<\/strong>.
