The verdict, delivered by a three-member bench led by Justice Golam Mortuza Mozumder on Wednesday, pertains to a contempt of court case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This marks the first conviction for Sheikh Hasina since she fled Bangladesh in August 2024 amidst widespread anti-government protests. She has since been residing in India. The contempt charges stem from a leaked phone conversation in which Hasina allegedly made comments that were deemed to undermine the court&#8217;s authority and threaten witnesses in ongoing hearings at the ICT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hasina faces multiple other cases in Bangladesh, including charges related to the brutal police crackdown on anti-government protests that led to her departure from the country.
