LUCKNOW, UTTAR PRADESH \u2013 July 9:<\/strong>
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced the confiscation of properties belonging to individuals allegedly involved in a large-scale illegal religious conversion racket. Among them is the accused mastermind, Jamaluddin\u2014popularly known as Changur Baba\u2014whose palatial residence in Balrampur district was demolished on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The demolished property, located in Madhupur village, was reportedly worth over \u20b950 crore and built on three bighas of land. The action was carried out under the supervision of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Circle Officer, following an official eviction notice. Police forces were deployed to ensure peace during the operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief Minister Adityanath, in a stern statement, said,<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere is no place in Uttar Pradesh for those who disturb peace, harmony, and the safety of women. The law will punish such individuals in a way that sets an example for society.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n


The Chief Minister also warned that the government would seize all properties and assets linked to Changur Baba and members of his alleged network. The crackdown follows revelations from an Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) investigation into a highly organized conversion syndicate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key Findings from the ATS Probe<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to ATS officials, the land on which the demolished bungalow stood was registered in the name of Neetu Rohra. Changur Baba, his family, and Neetu Rohra’s family resided at the location. Records suggest that Neetu Rohra, her husband Naveen Rohra, and their daughter were allegedly converted to Islam at the Al Farooq Qamar Bin Khattab Centre in Dubai in 2015. However, ATS investigations revealed inconsistencies in passport data, showing that the individuals were not in Dubai on the certified date\u2014raising suspicions about the validity of the conversion documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investigation also uncovered several shell organizations and trusts allegedly created by Changur Baba to funnel foreign donations. Entities such as Aasvi Enterprises, Aasvi Charitable Trust, Aaspiya Hasni Husaini Collection, and Baba Tajuddin Aasvi Boutique were reportedly used to open at least eight bank accounts across two major banks. Investigators estimate that foreign funding of around \u20b9100 crore was routed through these fronts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further revelations suggest that Changur Baba expanded his operations with the help of Idul Islam, a resident of Pune, acquiring properties in multiple states to establish a wide-reaching network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Political and Public Reaction<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The case has triggered strong reactions across Uttar Pradesh. The State Women\u2019s Commission has called for the death penalty, citing the targeting of vulnerable women and the “anti-national” nature of the alleged activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UP Cabinet Minister Anil Rajbhar echoed this sentiment, stating,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe destroyed the lives of multiple women through these conversions. This is not just anti-social\u2014it is treason.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n


Legal Proceedings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A case has been registered at the Gomtinagar police station under several sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act, 2021. Authorities have named multiple individuals, including a former state minister, as co-accused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
