He was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai and Avinash Pandey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Earlier, Gandhi had approached the High Court seeking exemption from personal appearance in the lower court, but his plea was not granted, necessitating his appearance today. Tight security arrangements were in place in and around the court premises during his presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>The defamation case was filed by Uday Shankar Srivastava, who served as a Director in the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
