Palaniswami (EPS) has categorically stated that his party is &#8220;not fools&#8221; to share power with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">He asserted that the AIADMK intends to form the government on its own after securing a clear majority.<br>Speaking at a party campaign event, &#8216;Makkalai Kappom, Tamilagathai Meetpom&#8217; (Let us protect the people and redeem Tamil Nadu), in Thiruthuraipoondi, Tiruvarur district, on Saturday, July 19, EPS directly addressed claims by the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) that the AIADMK would share power with the BJP if elected. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">&#8220;The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) is claiming that the AIADMK will share power with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) if elected. We are not fools to give away power,&#8221; he declared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><br>Palaniswami&#8217;s strong remarks come in response to repeated suggestions from certain BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and former Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai, that a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government would be formed in Tamil Nadu post-2026, implying a coalition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><br>EPS clarified that the AIADMK&#8217;s alliance with the BJP was forged solely with the objective of removing the incumbent DMK government, which he accused of corruption and implementing anti-people policies. He further hinted that more parties, including some currently aligned with the DMK, could join hands with the AIADMK in the run-up to the elections.<br>Following Palaniswami&#8217;s statement, Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran reportedly reached out to EPS, stating that the AIADMK leader&#8217;s remarks were merely a response to the DMK&#8217;s narrative that the BJP had &#8220;swallowed&#8221; the AIADMK. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Nagendran denied any hidden message behind EPS&#8217;s statement, aiming for damage control.<br>The conflicting statements highlight underlying tensions within the alliance, even as both parties express confidence in their joint electoral prospects against the DMK.
