Ikenna Moses (28) was sentenced by Kalpetta Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Judge A.B. Anoop. The sentences are five years for cheating by promising a job, five years for creating fake documents including a forged Canadian embassy visa, and two years for sending the fake documents to the complainant claiming them to be original.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> The order also states that the fine amount should be paid to the complainant and that the prison sentences can be served concurrently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>The accused had contacted a young woman from Kalpetta via Canadian and UK mobile numbers, offering her a medical coder job in Canada, and defrauded her of \u20b918 lakh. The accused was arrested in December 2023 from Bangalore by Wayanad Cyber Police Inspector Shaju Joseph and his team. The accused had approached the High Court for bail, but bail was denied, and the trial was ordered to continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>It is rare in the state for a foreign citizen to be convicted in a cyber fraud case with the submission of advanced cyber forensic evidence. Deputy Director of Prosecution M.A. Noushad, Assistant Prosecutors K.R. Shyam Krishna, and Aneesh Joseph appeared for the prosecution, and S.C.P.O. K.A.
