In a significant breakthrough for Indian security agencies, Sheikh Salim, also known as ‘Salim Pistol,’ considered the country’s most prominent illegal arms trafficker, has been arrested in a joint operation. The operation was conducted by the Delhi Police Special Cell and Indian security agencies in Nepal, where Salim had been in hiding since 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Salim Pistol was a key link in the illicit arms supply chain, providing weapons from Pakistan to various criminal gangs across India. According to security agencies, he had close ties with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the D-Company. He was also allegedly an associate of one of the accused in the murder case of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala and supplied arms to notorious gangs, including those led by Lawrence Bishnoi and Hashim Baba.
The Delhi Police Special Cell received intelligence that Salim was living in hiding in Nepal, which led to the joint operation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
His arrest is being hailed as a major success, with authorities stating that it will provide crucial information about the country’s illegal arms trafficking network and aid the fight against terror-related activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A native of Seelampur in Central Delhi, Salim Pistol began his criminal career with vehicle thefts and armed robberies before moving on to large-scale arms trafficking.
