Speaking at a rally in Gaya as part of his “Voter Adhikar Yatra” (Voter Rights March), Rahul Gandhi accused the ECI of colluding with the ruling party to “steal” elections. He was responding to the Election Commission’s demand for an affidavit to substantiate his claims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The Election Commission is accountable; it is their ‘theft’ that has been caught, but they are asking me for an affidavit. I’d like to tell the EC, the entire country will ask for your affidavit,” Gandhi said. “We are going to detect your ‘theft’ in every state, every Lok Sabha constituency, every Vidhan Sabha constituency and show it to the country.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He then directly addressed the three Election Commissioners, saying, “I want to tell the three Election Commissioners that when there will be an INDIA bloc government, we will take action against you for vote theft.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is not the first time Gandhi has leveled such accusations. He has previously held a press conference detailing alleged electoral irregularities, claiming that the ECI was “colluding with the BJP.” He specifically pointed to instances of alleged voter list manipulation in states like Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Haryana.
The ECI has consistently denied these allegations, calling them “baseless.” In a recent press conference, the Chief Election Commissioner challenged Gandhi to either provide a proof-backed affidavit or apologize to the nation. The ECI stated that it would not entertain complaints of this nature without concrete evidence and has asked political parties to actively participate in the process of electoral roll revision to address any issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
