New Delhi<\/strong>: Former Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Anish Dayal Singh, has been appointed as a Deputy National Security Advisor (Deputy NSA). The 1988-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the Manipur cadre will now work under National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He is credited with leading successful anti-Maoist operations, establishing new forward operating bases, and restructuring over 130 CRPF battalions for improved operational efficiency and personnel well-being. He also played a vital role in ensuring security during the 2024 Lok Sabha and the first Assembly elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Singh, who retired from service in December 2024, brings a wealth of experience to the role. He has a distinguished career spanning over three decades, including nearly 30 years in the Intelligence Bureau (IB). Before his tenure as the CRPF chief from January to December 2024, he also served as the Director General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and held an additional charge as the Director General of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his new role, Singh is expected to primarily oversee internal security matters. This includes critical areas such as Jammu and Kashmir, Left-Wing Extremism (LWE), and the long-running insurgency in the Northeast. His deep knowledge of counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism is seen as a major asset in strengthening India’s internal security framework.
