ALAPPUZHA<\/strong>: Senior CPI(M) leader and former Kerala Minister G. Sudhakaran has triggered a political storm by publicly criticising the current state government over the controversial Sabarimala gold-plating corruption case, stating that Kerala is “Number One in gold slab theft too.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The veteran leader made the comment while speaking at a seminar organised by the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) literary and cultural wing, Samskara Sahithi, in Alappuzha on the topic ‘Culture and Politics Today and Tomorrow’ on Monday, October 6, 2025.
The Controversial Statement
Addressing the pervasive rhetoric of ‘Kerala being number one in everything’ (often used by the ruling dispensation), Sudhakaran questioned the indiscriminate use of the tag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


“Everyone is competing to say that we are Number One (in the state). We must examine whether we need to say that all the time. The gold slab from Sabarimala was stolen and taken away.
