class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The result is being viewed as one of the most significant electoral upsets in the state, as Falta had long been considered a stronghold of the Trinamool Congress (TMC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the final results:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">BJP candidate Debangshu Panda received around 1,49,666 votes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">CPI(M) candidate Sambhu Nath Kurmi finished second with about 40,645 votes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Congress candidate Abdur Razzak Molla came third with around 10,084 votes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">TMC candidate Jahangir Khan slipped to fourth place with roughly 7,783 votes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why the Falta Election Became Nationally Important<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Falta constituency in South 24 Parganas district turned into a high-profile political battleground after the Election Commission ordered a complete repoll in all 285 booths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The repoll was conducted on May 21 under heavy central security deployment following allegations of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">EVM tampering,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">electoral irregularities,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">and manipulation of polling-related footage during the earlier voting process held on April 29.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More than 87% voter turnout was recorded during the repoll, one of the highest participation rates in recent Bengal electoral history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">TMC Candidate Withdrew Before Repoll<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a dramatic political twist, TMC candidate Jahangir Khan announced just days before the repoll that he was stepping away from the contest \u201cfor Falta\u2019s interest.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, since nominations could not legally be withdrawn at that stage, his name remained on the EVMs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Political observers believe this significantly weakened the TMC\u2019s organisational strength on polling day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">BJP Calls It a Sign of \u201cPolitical Change\u201d in Bengal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BJP leaders described the victory as evidence of growing public support for the party in West Bengal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the result, Debangshu Panda thanked voters and said the people of Falta had voted for \u201cchange\u201d and \u201cfear-free democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Falta result is also being interpreted as a symbolic breakthrough in the Diamond Harbour region, traditionally considered politically influential for the class=\"\">and extensive surveillance arrangements to ensure peaceful voting during the repoll.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several voters reportedly stated that they were
