Addressing thousands of opposition supporters, Gandhi demanded Kumar’s removal from office and warned that the opposition would pursue legal action over alleged electoral irregularities. He described protecting citizens’ voting rights and the Constitution as the central objective of the protest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGyanesh Kumar has committed the biggest crime by trying to silence the voice and soul of the nation,\u201d Gandhi said, reiterating that the opposition’s campaign was directed at protecting democracy rather than targeting individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opposition Demands CEC’s Resignation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The rally, organised under the INDIA bloc’s \u201cChalo Dilli\u201d campaign, brought together leaders from several opposition parties to protest the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and alleged large-scale voter deletions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gandhi said removing Kumar from office would be the first step towards restoring democratic institutions. He also accused the ruling BJP of benefiting from alleged electoral manipulation and warned that those responsible would face legal consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opposition’s allegations have been rejected by the BJP and the Election Commission, which maintain that the voter-list revision is intended to remove duplicate and ineligible registrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The November 1 rally followed a symbolic impeachment-style proceeding against CEC Gyanesh Kumar held by INDIA bloc leaders on October 31 at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Opposition leaders raised allegations concerning voter deletions, electoral-roll revisions and the functioning of the Election Commission. The bloc has also called for changes to the electoral process, including replacing electronic voting machines with paper ballots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
