Residents Left Out of Beneficiary List Seek Relief
Wayanad:A total of 63 individuals whose houses were damaged in the Mundakai-Churalmala landslide have newly applied for compensation. These individuals were not previously included in the official beneficiary list.
Applications from Both No-Go and Go Zones
Among the applicants, 20 people belong to the no-go zone but had not been listed as beneficiaries, while 43 are from the go zone who had not applied earlier. All applications were submitted at the Meppadi Grama Panchayat Community Hall.
Affected Wards and Zones
The applicants are residents of wards 10, 11, and 12 of the Meppadi Grama Panchayat. This includes those from:
The no-go zone, who have either lost their houses or suffered structural damage, and
The go zone, where homes sustained damage but residents had not applied for compensation until now.
Joint Inspection to Determine Compensation
The Grama Panchayat L SGD Engineering Department and Vellarimala Village authorities will carry out joint inspections of the damaged properties to assess eligibility and determine compensation amounts.
Officials Leading the Initiative
The initiative is being led by Deputy Tehsildars Muhammad Shafi and K. Ashokan, along with Meppadi Grama Panchayat Secretary K. Shaju.
