MUMBAI: A teacher from a prominent Mumbai school, ranked among the top five in India, has been arrested for allegedly serially sexually assaulting a male student over the course of a year. The horrific incidents are reported to have occurred at various locations, including five-star hotels. The accused also faces charges of allegedly plying the survivor with antidepressants.
The teacher was apprehended by Dadar police and taken into custody under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Juvenile Justice Act for sexual assault.
The alleged abuse came to light after the student, following his higher secondary examinations, finally confided in his parents when the teacher reportedly sent her maid to his home to request a meeting. The investigation is ongoing.
