RBI launches new silver coin; Tribute to Jaina Tirthankara

Reserve Bank of India
issued special commemorative coins of ₹900 on the occasion of 2900th birth Kalyanak of 23rd Tirthankar of Bhagwan Parshwanath.
For the first time in the history of the Republic of India Coinage, a coin with the denomination of ₹900 is being Issued.
These coins are made of 40 grams of pure silver (99.9%).
It is worth mentioning that 23rd Tirthankar Bhagwan Parshwanath was born 2900 years ago in Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) and he attained Nirvana 2800 years ago at the age of 100.

The minting of these coins is being done at the Mumbai Mint of the Government of India.
The coins were unveiled by Karnataka Governor Thawarchand Gehlot at Ostara Jain Tirtha in Jodhpur district.
