India-Pakistan Tensions Escalate After Drone Strikes and Retaliatory Attacks
May 8, 2025
Tensions between India and Pakistan have intensified following a series of drone strikes and military escalations on both sides. According to official sources, the Indian Army launched an initial operation targeting terrorist installations inside Pakistan. In response, Pakistan reportedly launched coordinated attacks on multiple Indian military installations.
The Pakistani strikes targeted key defense locations across several regions including Awantipora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bathinda, Chandigarh, Naal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj. Indian air defense systems were activated to intercept and neutralize the threats.
India retaliated by targeting military installations in Pakistan, with Indian drones reportedly striking key locations and destroying air defense systems in Lahore. Military officials described the action as a necessary countermeasure after Pakistan attempted to target Indian military infrastructure.
As a result of the escalating conflict, the Indian states of Rajasthan and Punjab have been placed on high alert. Authorities have imposed restrictions, and the borders with Pakistan have been completely sealed amid fears of further attacks.
Officials on both sides have yet to indicate any de-escalation efforts, and the situation remains volatile.
