Due to the ongoing heavy rainfall across Kerala, district collectors in several regions have declared holidays for all educational institutions. The districts affected include Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Idukki, Kannur, Kasaragod, Wayanad, Kozhikode, and Kottayam.
Thrissur District Collector Arjun Pandian announced that all educational institutions — including professional colleges, Kendriya Vidyalayas, CBSE and ICSE schools, anganwadis, nurseries, tuition centers, and madrasas — will remain closed. However, there will be no change to previously scheduled exams or interviews.
In Kannur, with a red alert in effect and rainfall intensifying, the District Collector ordered the closure of anganwadis, madrasas, tuition centers, and special classes. The public was warned not to operate any institutions in violation of the order. Additionally, all exams scheduled for Monday by Kannur University have been postponed, with new dates to be announced later.
Kasaragod has recorded extremely heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours. As a precautionary measure, District Collector K. Imbasekhar IAS declared a holiday for all educational institutions, including tuition centers, anganwadis, and madrasas. As in other districts, there will be no change to pre-scheduled exams.
Authorities urge the public to stay alert and follow official advisories as the rain is expected to continue.
