From Vlogs to Espionage: Jasbir Singh Arrested for Spying for Pakistan

Jasbir Singh, a YouTuber from Rupnagar district in Punjab and the owner of the channel ‘Jan Mahal,’ has been arrested by the Punjab Police on charges of espionage. According to Punjab Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, Singh had links with Pakistani intelligence officers, including former Pakistan High Commission official Ahsanur Rehman, who was expelled from India. Singh had also been in contact with Jyoti Malhotra, a YouTuber arrested earlier by Haryana Police for espionage activities. Additionally, Singh attended Pakistan’s National Day event in Delhi, where he was seen conversing with Pakistani military officials and vloggers.

During his investigations, Singh reportedly attempted to destroy evidence related to his communications with Pakistani officials. The Punjab Police have also taken into custody another individual from the region, believed to be involved in similar espionage activities.

These arrests are part of a broader crackdown on espionage activities following the Pulwama terror attack and subsequent Indian military operations. In Rajasthan, Assistant Administrative Officer Shakur Khan was arrested for his alleged connections with Pakistani officials and for passing sensitive information to Pakistani intelligence operatives.

The Punjab Police continue to investigate these individuals’ activities and their potential involvement in espionage networks operating in India.
