Rahul Mamkootathil Resigns as Kerala Youth Congress Chief Amid Misconduct Allegations.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM — Rahul Mamkootathil, the Kerala Youth Congress President and Palakkad MLA, has resigned from his post following a series of allegations of misconduct. The resignation comes after a young actress and a writer accused him of inappropriate behavior, which was followed by more women coming forward with similar complaints.

The controversy was sparked by Malayalam actress Rini Ann George, who alleged that a young, prominent political leader had been sending her objectionable messages and inviting her to a five-star hotel for three years. While she did not name Mamkootathil directly, her accusations led to a public outcry and speculation about the leader’s identity.

Subsequently, writer Honey Bhaskaran also publicly accused Mamkootathil of sending her inappropriate messages. She alleged that he had misrepresented their conversations to others in the party, leading to further public and political pressure.

The Congress party has been placed in a difficult position by the mounting allegations. Rahul Mamkootathil denied all the charges, claiming they were a concerted effort to defame him. He stated that his resignation was on “moral grounds” to ensure the party could focus on more important issues, rather than being forced to defend him.

However, his decision followed a statement from the Leader of the Opposition, V. D. Satheesan, who assured that no one found guilty would be spared. The Congress High Command has reportedly received a total of nine complaints against the youth leader.
