Due to persistent and intense rainfall, the Kerala government has announced a holiday for educational institutions in nine districts on June 16, 2025.
Following continued heavy downpours, authorities have declared a holiday for all educational institutions—including schools, colleges, anganwadis, and other academic centers—in the districts of Kasaragod, Wayanad, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kottayam, Thrissur, and Malappuram. This decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and staff amid adverse weather conditions.
The announcement was officially made by the concerned district administrations in response to the red alerts and flood warnings issued by the Indian Meteorological Department
