On Saturday, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced the reopening of 16 picturesque tourist destinations across the Union Territory—eight in the Kashmir Valley and eight in the Jammu region—starting June 15. This move is seen as a hopeful shift for tourism, indicating the beginning of what could be a safer and more peaceful tourist season. Among the most awaited reopenings is the scenic Betaab Valley, a renowned alpine destination. This initiative is expected to boost local economies and restore tourist confidence in the region.
Following a brief hiatus due to the tragic April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir is once again welcoming travelers. The administration has taken a positive step toward reviving tourism in the region.
