Grassroots Governance: Junaid Kaippani’s Study on Decentralised Planning Now in English.

Thrissur: The English translation of “Decentralised Planning – Thought and Practice,” a study on local governance by Junaid Kaippani, Chairman of the Wayanad District Panchayat’s Welfare Standing Committee, was released at the Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA) headquarters in Thrissur.

M.B. Rajesh, the State Minister for Local Self-Government, officially released the book by handing over a copy to former Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac, who is a writer and economist.

This book is the English translation of Junaid Kaippani’s Malayalam work on decentralized planning, tites Decentralised Planning: Thought and Practice.
Former Karnataka Home Minister P.G.R. Sindhia wrote the foreword to the book. P.A. Basheer is the translator, and String Publications is the publisher.

Numerous individuals from social, cultural, political, and literary spheres, along with people’s representatives, attended the release ceremony.

This study was prepared based on interviews and discussions conducted by Junaid Kaippani, who traveled across Wayanad district to understand welfare activities and development issues firsthand, meeting all 582 people’s representatives of the local self-governing bodies in the district.
The work shares observations and experiences from an original and comprehensive grassroots-level study on how effectively the concepts of decentralization of power and development, put forth by the three-tier system, are achieving their goals.
