Civil Defence Cleans Bailey Bridge on Independence Day


Kalpetta ,Wayanad: In a gesture of community service on India’s 79th Independence Day, members of the Civil Defence Aapthamithra, under the leadership of the Kalpetta Fire and Rescue Station, cleaned the Bailey Bridge in Chooralmala.


The day began with a national flag salutation ceremony at the Kalpetta Fire and Rescue Station. Following the ceremony, Station Officer Arjun K. Krishna led the Civil Defence members to Chooralmala. The Bailey Bridge, constructed by the Indian Army after a landslide in the area last year, was cleaned and its loose nuts were tightened as per the directive of the District Collector.


Civil Defence coordinator Sharafudheen, District Warden Unnikrishnan, Post Warden Sarnaz, and Deputy Post Warden Babitha Muttil led the initiative. The effort was part of the Civil Defence’s commitment to disaster management and public safety, highlighting the importance of maintaining critical infrastructure in disaster-prone areas.
