Police say cause of death under investigation; no official confirmation yet

CJ Roy, Chairman and Founder of the prominent real estate firm Confident Group, was found dead at his residence in Bengaluru on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred while an Income Tax Department raid was underway at the premises, according to official sources.

Preliminary media reports have suggested that Roy may have died by suicide using a firearm. However, police have not confirmed this claim, stating that the exact cause of death is still under investigation.

Roy was immediately rushed to a hospital, but doctors were unable to save him. Some reports indicate that he died on the way to the hospital, though this detail is yet to be officially verified.

The incident took place at Roy’s residence near Richmond Circle on Langford Road in central Bengaluru. Following information about the death, police reached the spot and secured the area.

Officials said speculation linking the death to stress related to the Income Tax raids is being examined, but emphasized that no final conclusion has been reached.

“The cause of death is not yet confirmed. All angles are being investigated,”
a senior police officer told the media.
