New Delhi – Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, the Chief of the Indian Naval Staff, has announced that the Indian Navy’s swift and strategic response during “Operation Sindoor” played a crucial role in the conflict, showcasing the nation’s “strategic reach and maritime dominance.” He confirmed that the Navy’s actions resulted in the destruction of six Pakistani aircraft.
“Operation Sindoor” was a coordinated military operation launched by the Indian Armed Forces in response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians. The operation involved the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy working in a highly synchronized manner to dismantle terror infrastructure across the Line of Control and deeper inside Pakistan.
According to Admiral Tripathi, the Indian Navy’s deployment of a formidable Carrier Battle Group (CBG), equipped with MiG-29K fighter jets and airborne early warning helicopters, ensured persistent surveillance and a robust air defense shield in the maritime domain. This presence effectively created a de facto blockade, compelling the Pakistan Navy to remain confined to its harbors and preventing hostile aerial incursions.
The Admiral further stated that the Navy’s rapid and measured response not only projected strength but also sent a clear message of resolve, which ultimately forced the adversary to plead for a ceasefire. He highlighted that India’s evolved approach to treating any act of terror as an act of war has added a new dimension to its operational outlook.
‘Operation Sindoor’ demonstrated India’s capacity for high-precision, coordinated military action across land, air, and sea, and its success has been attributed to years of investment in defense preparedness and unwavering government support.
