Investors Say Case Against Dr. P. P. Vijayan Is Fabricated
Kozhikode:
Investors associated with the Life Line Green City Trust Township project coming up at Pantheerankavu have alleged that the case registered against mind power trainer and Life Line Green City Trust Chairman, Dr. P. P. Vijayan, is fabricated. Addressing a press conference, the investors said they believe there is a deliberate and planned attempt to derail the township project. They reaffirmed their confidence in the project and stated that, as beneficiaries, they are entitled to the timely completion of the development. However, due to deliberate obstructions by certain individuals, the project is facing delays.
The investors expressed suspicion that a few contractors who had purchased plots within the township are behind the controversy. Road construction works inside the township had earlier been entrusted to some contractors who were also members of the township. However, it was later found that these contractors had illegally misappropriated ₹58 lakh from the funds allocated for road construction.
Subsequently, one of these individuals submitted a quotation of ₹1.61 crore for chain-link fencing works. In light of the earlier financial irregularities, the Trust decided not to award the contract to him. Instead, under the Trust’s leadership and through a transparent monitoring mechanism, the chain-link fencing was completed at a cost of just ₹72 lakh. Considering the risks of corruption and misuse of authority, the Trust later passed a resolution stating that civil contracts should not be awarded to township members.
The investors alleged that the case filed against Dr. P. P. Vijayan is part of a larger conspiracy to sabotage the township project, gain illegal financial benefits, and erode public trust. They said the move was also driven by personal vendetta following the loss of contracts. During the Trust’s Annual General Body meeting held last year, resolutions were passed to expel these individuals from Trust membership and to initiate legal proceedings to recover losses, citing their corrupt practices and activities detrimental to the project.
It was further alleged that these individuals deliberately posted false information and defamatory advertisements on the company’s Facebook page. They also misused a trial preview video clip—originally prepared for township promotion—to file a false complaint with the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA). By fabricating and presenting an advertisement that the company had never issued, they allegedly filed false complaints with the intent of initiating legal action against the company.
As a result of these false complaints, RERA imposed a fine of ₹1 crore and ordered a halt to construction activities, causing significant financial losses and damage to the company’s public credibility. Challenging this order, the company approached the Real Estate Regulatory Authority Appellate Tribunal. The tribunal observed that the transactions involved were limited to land purchases alone and, under the existing law, did not require RERA registration. Consequently, the stay order issued by RERA was cancelled.
The Life Line Green City Township is being developed over approximately 18 acres at Pantheerankavu, with an estimated investment of ₹2,000 crore. The project includes 115 villas, 300 apartments, a 200-room five-star hotel, an expo centre, amenity centre, sports complex, coffee shop, and several other state-of-the-art facilities.
Life Line Green City Trustee Francis Tharayil N., Malabar Hill Palace Managing Director Dr. Jayarajan D., and Green City Association members Adv. Shibu George and K. Shihabudheen were present at the press conference.
