Jalandhar (Punjab): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satwinderpal Singh alias Lucky Oberoi was shot dead by unidentified assailants outside a gurdwara in the Model Town area of Jalandhar on Friday morning, sending shockwaves across the state.

According to police sources, the attackers opened fire on Oberoi’s vehicle near the gurdwara, triggering panic in the locality. He sustained severe gunshot injuries and was rushed to a private hospital, where he later succumbed to his wounds.

Reports indicate that Oberoi had just finished offering prayers and was leaving in his Thar jeep when two assailants arrived on a scooter and fired multiple rounds at him, striking his chest and head.

CCTV footage reviewed by investigators shows a masked man wearing a dark hoodie approaching the vehicle, firing several shots at close range, and fleeing with at least one accomplice waiting nearby on a two-wheeler.

The killing has sparked political outrage, with opposition parties alleging a deterioration in law and order in Punjab following the incident.

Police have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the attackers.
