Colombia Hold Portugal to Claim Group K Crown and March into World Cup Round of 32

MIAMI: Colombia secured top spot in Group K at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after battling to a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Portugal, booking their place in the Round of 32 as group winners.

In a tense and tactical contest, Colombia matched Portugal’s attacking quality with disciplined defending and controlled possession. While neither side found the breakthrough, the result was enough to ensure Colombia finished first in the group, with Portugal also advancing as runners-up.

Colombia started brightly, dictating much of the early tempo through their midfield and creating the better opportunities in the opening stages. International media praised Colombia’s disciplined performance, highlighting the South American side’s defensive resilience and tactical maturity in containing Portugal’s star-studded attack. Although Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal enjoyed spells of possession, Colombia’s compact shape and effective game management proved enough to secure the point they needed to finish as group champions.
