Over 30 Security Personnel Killed
Gwadar, Pakistan: The banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for a major attack on a Pakistan Coast Guard camp in Jiwani, Gwadar district of Balochistan, alleging that more than 30 Pakistani security personnel were killed. However, Pakistani authorities have not officially confirmed the claimed death toll.
According to the BLA, the attack took place at around 6:32 p.m. on July 3, 2026, targeting a Coast Guard facility in the Panwan/Jiwani area of Gwadar.
In a statement, the group said its elite suicide unit, the Majeed Brigade, carried out the assault. The attackers allegedly rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the camp, triggering a powerful explosion, before armed militants entered the compound and opened fire. The BLA claimed that more than 30 security personnel were killed and several others were injured.
The militant group described the operation as part of its ongoing armed campaign against Pakistani security forces and claimed that its fighters withdrew safely after the attack.
As of now, the Pakistani government and military have not verified the BLA’s casualty claims, and there has been no independent confirmation of the reported death toll. International media have noted that the figures currently available are based solely on the BLA’s statement.
Balochistan has witnessed a long-running insurgency led by separatist groups seeking greater autonomy or independence. The BLA has frequently targeted Pakistani security forces, government installations, and projects linked to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), particularly in the strategic Gwadar region.
