In a tragic incident, an Aryan Aviation helicopter en route from Kedarnath Dham to Guptkashi crashed into a dense forest area near Gaurikund in Uttarakhand. The helicopter had seven people on board — six passengers and one pilot — at the time of the crash.
Preliminary reports indicate that adverse weather conditions led to the helicopter veering off course. The entire Kedarnath valley has been experiencing extremely poor weather, with thick fog and strong winds affecting visibility and flight safety. Officials believe the poor visibility caused by the heavy mist and turbulent winds may have contributed to the crash.
Soon after the helicopter lost contact with the control center, emergency rescue teams were dispatched to the suspected crash site. However, reaching the location is proving difficult due to the rugged and heavily forested terrain. Search and rescue operations are underway, but authorities acknowledge the challenges in accessing the crash zone quickly.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has launched an investigation into the incident, and a high-level probe is expected. The helicopter’s black box will be crucial in determining the exact cause of the accident.
This incident follows a series of recent aviation accidents across India, raising concerns over air safety during adverse weather.
