Dalai Lama Attends Special Prayer Ceremony at Tsuglagkhang Temple.

In a deeply spiritual gathering marked by devotion and reverence, His Holiness the Dalai Lama participated in a special prayer session at the Tsuglagkhang Temple in Dharamsala this morning. The event, held in the lead-up to his 90th birthday, emphasized the values of healing and compassion.

Amid the sultry pre-monsoon atmosphere, His Holiness the Dalai Lama was driven from his residence to the Tsuglagkhang, the principal Tibetan Buddhist Temple in Dharamsala, in a golfcart. A large gathering of monks, nuns, and devotees from around the world had assembled to recite prayers dedicated to the Medicine Buddha, a central figure in Tibetan Buddhism associated with healing.

The prayer ceremony was organized by the Sera Mé Monastic College as part of ongoing celebrations marking His Holiness’s upcoming 90th birthday. The gathering also coincided with the observance of the “Year of Compassion,” an initiative declared by the Central Tibetan Administration to promote empathy, kindness, and nonviolence.

Taking his seat before the throne, the Dalai Lama listened attentively and occasionally participated in the chants. The mood was serene yet celebratory, with devotees expressing gratitude for the spiritual guidance and compassion he has offered over decades.

Monastic leaders emphasized the significance of the Medicine Buddha prayers during challenging times and highlighted the Dalai Lama’s teachings on inner peace, universal responsibility, and the importance of compassion in global healing.

The event concluded with the distribution of blessings and messages of goodwill from the Dalai Lama, who thanked the congregation and reiterated the timeless relevance of compassion as a force for global harmony.
