Manipur– July 13, 2025 – The Indian Army has reportedly carried out a significant cross-border drone strike targeting camps of the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA-I) located in Myanmar. Unconfirmed reports suggest that several insurgents, including a high-ranking commander, may have been killed in the operation.
According to various media reports, four ULFA-I camps situated within Myanmar territory were allegedly targeted in a powerful offensive in the early hours of July 13. The operation reportedly involved close to 100 drones, indicating a precise and coordinated attack on the insurgent group’s bases.
Sources indicate that the strike allegedly resulted in multiple casualties among ULFA-I cadres. While official confirmation is awaited, unconfirmed reports circulating in the media suggest that Lieutenant General Nayan Asom, a senior commander within ULFA-I’s military wing, might be among those killed.
When contacted by India Today NE for comment, the Indian Army Public Relations Officer (PRO) stated that they did not have any immediate inputs regarding such an operation.
If confirmed, this air raid would mark one of the most significant strikes by Indian forces in recent times against insurgent infrastructure operating from across the border. Historically, Myanmar’s remote border regions have served as safe havens for various insurgent groups active in India’s Northeast.
Official confirmation from the Indian government or military authorities is still pending.
