Patna, Bihar — November 14, 2025:
As counting trends in the Bihar Assembly Election 2025 pointed towards a sweeping victory for the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Mahagathbandhan’s Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav launched a scathing attack on the national media. He accused major news outlets of promoting a one-sided narrative that sidelined the opposition throughout the campaign and counting process.
Tejashwi’s Sharp Critique
Reacting to early trends that heavily favoured the NDA, Yadav expressed frustration over what he described as persistent media bias:
“There is no opposition (being shown), it is all only the BJP in the media propaganda. Only God knows what will happen to this country.”
His remarks underscored the growing discontent within the Mahagathbandhan (MGB), which had hoped for a stronger showing after months of campaigning centered on unemployment, economic distress, and youth issues.
Bihar Election 2025: Current Status (As of Afternoon, November 14)
| Alliance/Party | Leads/Wins (Approx.) | Status |
|---|---|---|
| National Democratic Alliance (NDA) | ~200 | Landslide Victory Imminent |
| Mahagathbandhan (MGB) | ~38 | Trailing Significantly |
| Others/Independents | ~5 | Marginal Presence |
With the majority mark at 122 seats in the 243-member Assembly, the NDA appears set to return to power with its largest mandate in decades.
Mahagathbandhan’s Struggles and Key Factors
Severe Undercut in RJD Performance
The RJD, which emerged as the single-largest party in 2020, is now leading in only a small segment of the seats it contested. The party’s inability to counter the NDA’s consolidated caste coalition and development-centric messaging appears to have hurt its prospects significantly.
Media Bias Allegations Resurface
Tejashwi Yadav had consistently accused mainstream outlets—frequently referring to them as “Godi Media”—of amplifying pro-NDA narratives while downplaying MGB’s ground support. His comments today reflect longstanding tensions between the RJD and sections of the media.
BJP Emerges as NDA’s Dominant Force
While official results are still awaited, early numbers indicate that the BJP is set to emerge as the senior partner in the alliance, overtaking Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) for the first time in Bihar’s political landscape.
Nitish Kumar, meanwhile, is poised to retain the Chief Minister’s post under what appears to be a renewed and significantly strengthened NDA government.
