US President Donald Trump Announces Thailand-Cambodia Ceasefire Talks Amid Deadly Border Clashes.

WASHINGTON D.C.– Following three days of deadly border clashes that claimed over 30 lives and displaced more than 130,000 people, United States President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that leaders of Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to meet soon for ceasefire talks.

President Trump, who is currently visiting Scotland, revealed in a Truth Social post that he held separate discussions with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thailand’s Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai. During these calls, he reportedly warned both leaders that the ongoing conflict risked jeopardizing existing U.S. trade agreements with their respective nations.

“After brutal fighting on the border between Thailand and Cambodia, which resulted in over 30 deaths and the displacement of 130,000 people, I spoke separately with the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Manet, and the Acting Prime Minister of Thailand, Phumtham Wechayachai. I warned both leaders that continued hostilities would jeopardize our trade deals,” Trump stated in his social media post. “They have now agreed to meet very soon for ceasefire negotiations. A big step towards peace!”

The recent escalation in border tensions has reportedly led to significant humanitarian concerns, with large populations forced to flee their homes. The involvement of the U.S. President in mediating a resolution underscores the international community’s alarm over the escalating violence in Southeast Asia.

Details regarding the exact timing and location of the planned ceasefire talks are yet to be released. The announcement by President Trump signals a potential diplomatic breakthrough in a conflict zone that has historically seen sporadic but often violent disputes over contested border territories.
