Dhaka: The discovery of a 28-year-old tea garden worker found dead in Bangladesh’s Moulvibazar district ahead of national elections has once again raised serious concerns about the safety of minority communities in the country.
The Incident — What Happened?
Police said the bloodied body was discovered with the victim’s hands and legs tied in the Champara tea garden area of Kamalganj upazila.
Authorities identified the victim as Ratan Shubha Kar (28). Local residents spotted the body on Wednesday morning and alerted the police.
Officials confirmed that the body was sent for post-mortem examination and that an investigation is underway to identify those responsible.
Tea garden workers have suggested the killing may be linked to the election atmosphere, though authorities have not confirmed any motive.
